IQF vegetables balance in Poland
Poland is one of the largest producers of vegetables in Europe. Polish cauliflower, broccoli and other vegetables, root crops are present in all the markets of Europe and beyond. From our eastern neighbors to the Portugal we can find Polish vegetables, highly rated by consumers. What about this year?
It is generally accepted that the Poland produces about 4.4 million tons of vegetables, which represents a decrease of approximately 8% compared to last year. Smaller sets are primarily the result of a reduction in cultivation, as well as a slight decrease in yields of most vegetable species, due among other things to water shortages in some parts of the country. The greatest decrease in production of onions, carrots and beetroot (10-11%)
And how it involved into current price levels in the frozen vegetables? We could expect higher prices resulting from the reduction in the meantime collections based on his own observations, I can say that this year's prices will remain frozen vegetables on a permanent long-term levels. And so to the structure of the prices of frozen vegetables for export:
- Cauliflower rose: min 0,50 EUR/ kg
- Broccoli rose: min 0,65 EUR / kg
- Carrot cube: min 0,33 EUR / kg
- Parsley cubes: min 0,48 EUR/ kg
- Diced parsnip: 0,41 EUR / kg
- Celery cube: min 0,46 EUR/ kg
- Onion cube: min 0,35 EUR/ kg
Prices were calculated due to exchange curse 1 EUR = 4,10 PLN
These price levels are not especially encouraging for processors. I also met with a situation that many companies with the potential for processing root vegetables quite this idea. Of course, most of these are companies that have been able to buy lots of fruits and have problems with space in their warehouses; low-cost effective vegetables will not provide the expected benefits.
