Up to 60,000 euro direct payments
According to the project, within the framework of direct payments, farms are to receive a maximum of 60,000 a year.
Individual EU countries should also be able to redirect part of the funds from large enterprises to small farms.
The Brussels authorities are currently preparing a legislative proposal for a future project of the so-called Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) after 2020. It is expected that it will be presented in late May or early June. The EU and European Parliament would have to agree to this.
About 40 percent of the total EU budget, or around 58 billion euro, flows into European agriculture each year. On average, each farm receives about 280 euros per hectare
However, due to the approaching Brexit in 2019 in the future, the budget of the EU will run out of 12 to 14 billion euros. EU budget commissioner Günther Oettinger has already implemented cuts in agriculture. They will be presented soon.
