Higher prices of apples

According to the quotations published by a team of Foreign Agricultural Markets Monitoring FAMMU / FAPA, in the Netherlands, where the apple harvest will be about 23% lower than in 2011, the wholesale price of dessert apples in the last week of September were approximately 20-40% higher compared to the same period a year ago.

In the Polish market prices of apples also increased compared to the previous year. According to data published by the Ministry of Agriculture, the arithmetic mean price of dessert apples in September in purchasing cooperatives run by gardening was about 0,06 EUR / kg higher than the average price in September 2011. For the entire month but they did not show a clear trend of growth. It is expected that in the coming months they will grow under the influence of seasonal factors, however, given the significant shortage of apples in the EU, its growth rate may be higher than in the previous year.
