THE CHAMBER OF AGRICULTURE OF MAŁOPOLSKA

The history of the Chamber of Agriculture of Małopolska (MIR) dates back to 1933. After the Second World War, by the decree of 1964, the Chambers of Agriculture were closed down.

Thirty years later, they were reactivated by the Act of 14th December 1995 on Chambers of Agriculture. In January 1996 the Chambers of Agriculture were established in Nowy Sącz and Tarnów, while the Chamber of Agriculture in Krakow was set up in 1997.

Since 1st January 1999, Poland has gone through various administrative changes, which resulted in the reorganization of the existing structure of chambers. The Chambers of Nowy Sącz, Tarnów and Krakow were replaced by the Chamber of Agriculture of Małopolska located in Krakow. Because of the amendment introduced to the Act on Chambers of Agriculture the existing branches were replaced by 19 district councils which function in each district up until now.
